Fun full circle stuff for all you “SD” readers

Hey guys – so you know the movie I went off to southern France to film/do stunts for in the middle of the book? Well…it’s finally time for it’s premier, which means it’s time for the cast & crew  (including yours truly) to walk the Red Carpet. so, yes, I’ll be above ground for a night : )

Here’s the invite and some fun bits of info I thought you’d like to peruse – ya’ know, in case you were wondering how that all turned out…

Subject: Invitation To A Red Carpet
Date: Mon, 26 Jul 2010 12:25:39 -0700 (PDT)

Hi Heidi,
The New York International Film Festival has invited us to have a “Red Carpet” New York premiere of our film, “Tied To A Chair.”  The event will be this Thursday, July 29th, 2010.  As photographers, press and cable interviews are scheduled, the cast and crew are asked to arrive in their “red carpet attire” (fancy dress) at 7:30, or earlier if they would like to change when they arrive.  All interviews and photographs are planned to be inside the theater where there is air conditioning!  The screening will be at 8:00 P. M.
The theater is:
Village East Cinemas, Screen 2
181 Second Avenue (at East 12th Street)
New York 10003
and I very much hope you can attend.
There will be what I am assured will be a fabulous after party at the end of the evening to which, needless to say, you are most definitely invited!
Here is the link to the trailer, which has already been viewed over 85,000 times:

The film received the “Best In Festival” Tammie Award at the Tamworth International Film Festival 2009, and here is the film’s first review, garnered at the Del Ray Beach Film Festival just a few weeks ago:
I do hope you can be there.  I would love to see you.
Warmly,
Bonnie Loren – “Tied To A Chair”

Feel the heat

This  has been the  hottest  summer here  in  NYC in  9 years. Amp  that up  by a   10 -  12 degrees and you get the feel  of  the underground in  this  heat.  it’s  beyond a sauna.  When  done  each  day I’m  soaked  from head to  toe -  hair drenched, shirt drenched poor  guitar  getting  dripped  on   for  hours.  I  loose  so  much  fluid I  now  carry a  little  container of  salt  to  replenish  what  I  loose in  the 3-4  hrs in the heat.

Here’s a taste of the underground, on one of the hottest  days yet  courtesy of Melissa Donovan, superb  Cinematographer  who you  can  find  at www.melissadonovanproductions.com

New rays of hope & many apologies….

Hi all!

This has  been one heck of a hot summer so far, right? One of the biggest challenges  being just hangin’ onto my  guitar  pick while I’m soaking wet from the heat Underground :)

Yesterday as I came up  from Herald Square I  noticed theair above ground had finally cleared, all the way down to the 80’s – “ahhhhhh…” so the coolness is  bound to trickle down to the trains sooner or later…we hope!

Along with the recent influx of comparatively refreshing air  comes  some strong  rays of hope from the Underground. This past week,  City Lore’s Executive Director Steve Zeitlin had a productive meeting with the new NYPD Transit Chief, Raymond Diaz and all NYPD transit borough commanders. At issue was latest Police harassment of street performers. I spoke with Steve today and I’m very encouraged at  both the appointment of a new chief of Transit  Police and his responsiveness to our ever escalating plight of harassment over the past few years. Steve and City Lore had requested a meeting for over three years and only with the  appointment of a new chief did the meeting happen.

But happen it did.

Rays of hope with Diaz!

Finally – Many apologies to all for the “Press” links  sent to you via the blog – big mistake and Jason’s working on fixing the ‘glitch’  – again – so  sorry to inundate your inbox on a Friday w/ mistakes. It  shall be remedied.

Catch you in the cool breeze when the train doors open underground  :)

Too cute audio love ~

I  was  gigging up in Harlem last week and this group of  five or six little girls passed by, maybe nine or ten years old, and  they became  transfixed.  Within a matter of  seconds we had a mutual  fan club thing goin’ on; I love the kids. They listened to the music, clapped, danced, stared at the money mixed in with the constant cache of  assorted candies I  keep in my guitar case, chit chatted, giggled and emptied  their little pockets of pennies, nickles and dimes into my case.

Once  done my  gigging for the night and back above ground I noticed there was a new voice mail waiting for me.   Thought you might  want to  hear…

“Rose on Rose”

Sometimes ya have to come up for air and when you do look what  you find…

These wild  roses  live long  the Hudson River.  Here and there, the predominantly light pink have cross pollinated with the dark  pink and this one particular light pink rose ended up with just one dark pink petal,  in the shape of a heart!  – Magic

Why I love the souls of the underground. Kindred spirits.

Me to Pearl  the  Mime on FB -  “It  made my day to run into you yesterday underground in Times  Square :)

Pearl The Mime: …it made mine. I was thinking all last night…just how I could tell the world that you gave the best hug ever…it was with the innocence and fullness…truth of a child.

Quote of the week ~

“So, what are ya’ collecting money for?”

Four teenage girls, dressed to the nines – last Sunday as they stared, blankly into my guitar case at Herald Square while I sang
